President Rodrigo Duterte was calling out a lady politician as “atribida” on Wednesday for telling to him that granting an emergency powers to resolve the traffic will trigger corruption and crime.
President Duterte stated that the government was needing money to discuss one of the issues in the country which is the traffic issue in his speech in Romblon.
According to The President,
“Kaya nung when the administration — I don’t know it was Tugade or — sabi ko, we need to borrow for EDSA. Because we need money to just even move one stall there. So ang hinihingi nila emergency powers.”
Duterte also lambasted the lawmaker for seeing and looking the politicians as a corrupt one without mentioning the name.
The President had previously cited Sen. Grace Poe for the persistent traffic problem on EDSA for her refusal to grant “big money” for projects that are seen to solve the problem.
The President also stated that what she is calling someone like was “atribida” because he said that it is better, to be honest and be a crusading public official.
“But here comes a lady. Atribida ang tawag ko diyan eh. I mean it’s good to be honest. It’s good to be a crusading public official. No doubt about it, you will be appreciated.”
He also stated that if the lady politician were thinking that all elected officials in the government are corrupt, she might be mistaken.
President Duterte also stated that when he goes out outside, he already has the freedom to become harsher when it comes to what he is saying.
He said,
“But kung sumobra ka and you think that all elected officials in government are corrupt, oh well then. Sabi ko, kung ganun ang pag-isip ninyo, huwag na. Let EDSA rot there. And at the end of the day, when I go out, then I’ll have the freedom to be more frank and more brutal in my language.”
